Is it STILL Your Birthday?!

Uh, no, but on this blog it is…

[Two weeks later and I'm going out strong...]

Dinner And A Show

So being a lover of the arts, going to a Broadway (or in this case a Broadhurst) show was an absolute must. Not just any show, of course, but one in particular named A Streetcar Named Desire  from Tennessee Williams. I was already familiar with the book and had watched the 1950′s film adaptation, starring Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh. By the way, if you haven’t seen it yet, I urge you to Netflix or Google it and watch it on your free time. Truly an epic film. That’s all I’m saying.

Now when I heard Blair Underwood would be playing one of the main characters, my interest was highly piqued and quite frankly, I was prepared to go see the production by my damn self. But that wasn’t the case since that day became a great female bonding time with my great loves, my big sis and my niece.

Besides Blair Underwood being as handsome without having to recite any lines at all, this man’s commitment to the role as Stanley had me sucked in from the start. Seriously, he basically owned that shit; but so did Nicole Ari Parker, as she was just as convincing in her role as Blanche. Her role was HEAVY and she commanded it too.

After the show we had dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and told funny true life stories. I live for those.

Let me end this part of the post by saying how delish Ruby Tuesday’s food was! I had no idea the food was so tasty (as least what I had) AND the customary garlic cheesy breads were to die for! If you ever try it out, I recommend ordering what I ate – the Salmon Florentine (which was grilled, topped with spinach and artichoke sauce and finished with grated Parmesan). Mmm, sounds good, don’t it?

I’m cursing myself right now for not having ANY photos of the food. I really thought I snapped pictures. Smh. I do remember starving like a bear that day, so that might have contributed to the lack of food pics. Damn, now my mouth is watering from reminiscing about that food!

Okay enough with my feeble attempts of “rave reviews”. Let’s move on to the actual birthday, shall we?

Birthday Suit, Birthday Dinner

Dinner at Tao Restaurant was superb and not only because of the good food, but the company was the chocolate fudge to my sundae. Tao is definitely on my top list of great NY restaurants to dine at. If it’s not apparent by now the relationship I have with food, consider yourself notified.

Below are a mixture of Instagram pics (taken from my android) and from my girl, Vanessa’s  iPhone (on the right side of me).

*Disclaimer* I haven’t seen my girl, Jen (on the left, above) in about 5 months! We talk occasionally to make sure each other is still alive – which sometimes equates to at least once a month? Ha, but I’m so not exaggerating though. We been friends for SO LONG that it’s withstand even years apart during the college and medical school era. Our friendship has developed into something quite unique and rare that no matter how far or long, the bond still remains intact. I like to think it’s because of the respect we have for the history in our friendship. We may not know everything that’s going on in each other’s life and we may even feel like we don’t know each other well but the loyalty is still there. Her presence, however sporadic, is and will always be welcomed and appreciated in my life. It’s just that real. (She hates when I get mushy but she’ll get over it lol)

As I get older, birthdays become more significant when I spend it with the people I actually like, respect, love, and or care about.  And why shouldn’t it be, right?!

Most of the these items were purchased 6 months to a year ago therefore everything is SOLD OUT. Sorry :(

(I will add substitutes later at the bottom of this post.)

However, you can check out the websites I purchased all my items at one point in time. Happy shopping! :)

Go Shawty, It’s YO Birthday…

Excuse my lack of title originality but Fifty Cents’s infamous bday song was the first thing that popped in my brain when creating a title for this post. Technically, it might not  be YOUR birthday and since lately I’ve been such a lousy (aka lazy-ass) blogger, I figured the least I should do is show and tell you what I did during my bday week of the 4th of July. This year was kind of important for me to spent my born day with the loved ones. And while I wasn’t able to spent time with every single favorite person, a simple call from the rest of them sufficed for me. What can I say? I’m an easy going gal who really doesn’t ask or expect too much…at least, most of the time anyways.

What really made my bday complete was that I got to do a couple of things I’ve been wanting to do/see/go for some time now. Also having a few of my girls there to share it with me really made my week. One thing you should know about me when it comes to my bday. I’m more concerned about WHO I’m with rather than HOW many are coming with. If I have the right who it doesn’t matter what we do – because I know imma have fun regardless.

PRE-BDAY BEACH DAY

Me and the girlies enjoying Long Beach. We were the only folks who brought actual food to the beach. And we ate it all up too!

I’m always rubbing her bun in the oven…I can’t help it!

pink, yellow, and blue toes (it’s really a mint color, but whatever)

There was literally no sun aprox. 30 min after we got to the beach. So I created my own version of sunny skies…

Stepping out of my comfort zone…

By the way we didn’t know these dudes, but they were cool so we let them take a photo with Toni…LOL

Time to buckle and go back to civilization! *sad face*

Remember, you don’t always have to go out of town to have a bday getaway. For me, going to the beach, during the summer, always seems to do the trick whenever I feel the need to getaway from the everyday, mundane environment.  Thanks to the girls for just getting up and riding with me. Yall are truly my beautiful riots :)

PS Shoutout to V for sending me some of the photos!

{Stay tuned for part 2 of more bday pics}

My Life on Instagram…FINALLY

There’s a strong possibility, for all you iPhone users out there that this post will most definitely annoy you. I know I’m late but I don’t care. It’s my blog. I do what interests me and whoever else finds enjoyment in my little ol’ blog…well then, we’ll get along just fine.

Anyways, I’ve been waiting a looong time to get Instagram downloaded on my Android phone, but I refused to get an iPhone just for the sake of one app. Nope. Wasn’t gonna happen.

Now I find myself being one of those annoying tourists taking photos where ever I go – but despite the obvious, detailing my life on Instagram has proven to be so much fun! Who would have thought?! I can literally imagine you iPhone users cackling at me. *shrugging it off *

The purpose of this seemingly non-purpose post is that I wanted to share snippets of last weekend travels with you. What do you think? I’m thinking of making this a monthly thing. Because “sharing is caring“. (Yes, I did just have a Barney moment…)

Hope you enjoy the details of my recent Instagram adventures :)

Recent Instagram pics of last weekend

1. Cynthia Vincent wedgies – I always stop and stare at these mesmerizing prints. (Apparently I get lusty when it comes to shoes…sue me)

2. DIY imperfect nails - my awesomely preggo niece did these by herself. I didn’t notice the imperfect details until I took a closer look.

3. Passion Tea Lemonade from  Starbucks - it’s so thirst-quenching it’s ridic! Love it. Thanks to my awesomely preggo niece for putting me on.

4. Pizza Hut’s personal cheese pan - back in the day, pizza was my favorite food to eat. Um actually, it kinda still is.

5. Ms. Toni  - went picnicing at Central Park with my awesomely preggo niece. Met Toni (for the 3rd or 4th time) and had a hilarious time! She’s a total riot, from beginning to end!

6. Nikes  sandals - I mean, how cool is that? I couldn’t help but take a pic. By the way, I don’t discriminate on sporty shoes… just as long as they’re hot enough to lust over

Retail Therapy At The Limited Store Opening

Never thought I would ever type those words out…

But before you screw up your face and prejudge me, read first what I’ve recently discovered about this new and improved store.

I found The Limited store in Roosevelt Field Mall to be quite therapeutic and enjoyed every moment I spent in there. Now, if only shopping could always be that serene as the department stores in the city, then we’d be onto something long over due in my opinion. I kid you not, there was no one to push you out the way, no crowded fitting rooms, no waiting on massive lines. Wait…I take that back, I did have to wait in line to purchase my items. Let’s be honest, is it really a line if there’s only two people in front of you? Yeah, I didn’t think so neither.

Great art + inspirational quotes written on the wall of The Limited store

Anyways, after Vanessa (of 24blogazine), Christina (of ProfreshStyle) and I received a short tour around TheLimited store, we disperse and went our separate ways to get a closer look at what The Limited had to offer. I was in my own little (comfortable) world, taking my sweet little time going through racks of clothing and accessories; trying out a few items and deciding which ones I like best. That’s how I like to do it, by the way…by myself. Even in the midst of constant noise and chaos I always find myself at peace when I’m in a store. I could just be looking around not buying anything either.

Christina of ProfeshStyle & Vanessa of 24blogazine

The purchases I made were the best part for me – no doubt…

My favorite part of this item is the “peter pan” collar!

Adding more armcandy to the party :)

Yup, it was a perfect shopping experience to end a busy/hectic/boring working week.

{Style’Fits} Mr. Chuck Taylor & I

When I was a teenager, sneakers were my go-to for comfort and style. During the summer, I remember my sneaker of choice were a crisp pair of white, low-top Nikes also known as “uptowns” in the hood. And if they got dirty at all, that meant it was time to purchase a new pair. I made great childhood memories with those Nikes every summer.

However, lately, my feet have been consistently rocking a pair of fresh white Converses.  It’s become a renewed love affair actually. As a matter of fact, I think I’ve been wearing it too much because I’m noticing scuff marks already. I’ve realized that some people think that with sneakers, you are often limited on outfits because the traditional concept is just throw on anything (casual or raggedy) and go! There’s no thought or effort into putting outfits together…until now. You will find that with Converses, it’s more versatile than you think. And you can actually look good doing it too!

Below are each of my top 3 outfits for Stylin’ Mr. Chuck Taylor with pants and with maxi dresses…

Stylin' Mr. Chuck Taylor + Pants edition

Stylin’ Mr. Chuck Taylor + Pants edition by stylisticappetite featuring white high top sneakers

I’ve been mixing ensembles together to go with Mr. Chuck for the past few weeks and decided  to share some outfits I think are  totally doable and stylish. I won’t lie, this was a little challenging but I think I’ve accomplished something inspiring.

Stylin' Mr. Chuck Taylor + Maxis

I’ve discovered it’s sometimes good to challenge your inner-stylish-sneaker-self. That’s where great personal style always begin… from within.

Creatively Ainsley: The A/W 2012 Presentation

Stepping  inside Exit Art felt like I was actually part of the Ainsley Fall 2012 presentation. Compared to the cold weather happening outside, the warm atmosphere set the tone immediately, and provided a light comfort that somehow worked. The cool sound of the monotone drums against a slow rhythmic beat had an ethereal feel to it. The models were walking around exuding free spirit auras all over the Exit Art space. And as I walked further in, I noticed the models posing on, what I would call, wooden (horse) mount props.

Something about those mustard colored pants complimented the tweed vest and wool turtleneck well. It was my favorite laid-back ensemble from the collection. I must shout out Ainsley’s hair and makeup team for having the models look put together yet minimalistic and effortless .

I had to take a close up shot of that silver ring! Isn't it lovely?

Also I’ve been into the quirky prints with the polish-styled p-bows and the peter pan collared blouses. Especially the little animal prints; they’ve been quite appealing to me lately.

Anyways, here’s more pics below…

That jumpsuit is my fav... AND it's perfect for Spring? It's gets no better than that!

And yes, it’s Angela Simmons…all glamed up, of course. Would you expect anything less from her?! She really owns her style ID.

Ainsley created a theme that centered around their collection. I left the gallery with an impression still lingering on my mind. I guess that was their intended purpose. So bravo to the entire team who helped make Ainsley Fall 2012 presentation a success!

For more pics on the presentation, check out my FB fan page now! Also don’t forget to like my page :)

To Cultivate & Inspire…It’s Thee IFBCon Way

I remember my first experience, two years ago, being at the IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) Conference. I had just started blogging and had no idea “what the next step was” or which direction I was taking this blogging hobby to. I say blogging hobby because initially I had no high expectation of blogging; being that it was just my main outlet for self-expression. I was totally oblivious to the significance of what fashion blogging would have on my life when I attended IFBCon then. From that moment on, my outlook on my life and the fashion blogging industry started entwining together slowly.

  • Always explore new ideas & seek people who bring meaning and  joy to your heart. You will never EVER be bored with your (blogging) life again!

Fast forwarding to last week’s IFBCon, I can honestly say, I still have that same childish excitement and open-minded outlook I had going in as a novice blogger two years ago. No one walks in knowing everything and there’s always more you can discover after you’ve learned something new. With that being said, I know I have a long, long way to go in becoming the successful blogger I envision myself but I’m not discouraged because that means I can take the time to enjoy my experiences and lessons while on my blogging journey. And I wouldn’t have it ANY other way!

  • Don’t put all your focus on the destination. Try enjoying the journey along the way, you never know who you’re meant to meet or what you’re suppose to learn or do.

During last week’s IFB, I’m reminded how different bloggers are and how important it is to stay true to yourself (a reoccurring theme at IFBCon). Every blogger has their own signature, as I like to call it…Style ID. It can refer to one’s personal clothing style, individual personalities and ideas, and or the type of persona they want their blog platform to represent.  Everyone has a purpose and a value to add, not to just the fashion industry but also to this whole world. Sometimes the longest hardest part is finding out what it is.

So finally…

  • Learn to turn off your pc, go outside, and get inspired! It’s abso-freaking-lutely crucial to your life as a blogger but more importantly to your life in general.

I will always be grateful for IFB because if they never existed, I wouldn’t have known how much I enjoy blogging or formed some amazing friendships with a few bloggers! So thank you Jennine (and team) for creating a platform for us bloggers to inspire AND be inspired.

{ShoeGasm} The “Ecliptic” Fur Bootie

More often than most women like to admit, when they stumble upon a shoe that causes heart palpitations. Okay, maybe there’s no medical proof of shoes negatively affecting a girl’s health but it can sure feel like it! Instinctively, gorgeous shoes tug on the heart strings of a true shoe lover and you either have two options: (buy) ACT or (ignore) WALK AWAY. You may act because it’s a shoe you know you will cherish and wear always. Or you might walk away because you know you’ll meet or find another, better than the last. (Yes, I’m still referring to shoes…)

It’s an individual journey, shoe lovers (like myself)  take from the moment we realized our personal love affair with shoes. Whether or not you want to publicize – that’s entirely up to you. Personally, I chose not to hide it. And in doing so, I’m able to express my passion and taste for shoes such as these must-haves Charles Jourdan above even if, admittedly,  sometimes I just can not afford them.

In pursuit to find a sale priced version for this beauty, I happened to find the only two pairs left on sale (size 6 & 9 1/2) plus an additional 20% off, resulting in the shoe costing under $100! Check out the site.

Unfortunately, neither one were in my size, of course, but I thought why not share with a fellow shoe lover.

Who knows, maybe one day, I may be lucky to find a shoe I love with a similar attractive sale price.

My NYE Style ID: “You Give Sex But I Got Class”

Picking out an outfit for New Year’s eve proved to be a mixture of a challenge but equally exciting. I was among, more than a few, procrastinating shoppers and tourists on new year’s eve, trying to find a particular shoe I had in mind. To others, it may not even be that serious to be running around the city looking for high heels, but for me it was! I wanted to reward myself for getting an A in my accounting class, and what better way to do that than with shoes?!

See, I had already had the idea in my head of what style look I was going for and this New Year, I was going long, with a touch of classic and sex appeal balancing each other out. I’m not even joking, I was determined to turn my idea into an actual tangible outfit. I succeed too, at the last min of course, after I stopped getting in my own way and stopped being picky with my options.

It wasn’t even about impressing anyone (because it really didn’t matter what anyone else thought), but it was just a personal thing for me to achieve something creatively inspiring that popped in my head. Again, for some people putting something together like the above is nothing to them, but for me, I can say I put this together in my head and made it happen. Anyway, I wore the same shoe and dress you see above, but wore my own accessories + bag, to a hotel suite party. And guess what, I was the only girl with a semi long dress on, so I felt validated in my choice.

{You can find those gorgeous leopard shoes from Sam Edelman on their website or purchase them  here.}

Food4Thought Series: Express Your(True)Self

“I don’t write tweets….I write LIFE.”

This is what R&B singer and actor, Tyrese, tweeted about 3 months ago that resonated with me. He was referring to his next upcoming book, Manology, he and Reverend Run are co-writing together. I became an admirer of Tyrese ever since I read his first book “How To Get Out Of Your Own Way“(which I strongly recommend). It became automatically apparent, how much substance this man has! I kid you not, my indifference or (admittedly) my ignorance towards him slowly changed with each turned page and had me re-evaluating my life and the people in it. But that’s another topic for another day…

Have you ever had people tell you that you need to “express yourself”? Aren’t they annoying?! Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t out of fear that I didn’t “express” myself to people, but more out of lack of desire. I just didn’t want to because I didn’t feel the need to – it was just as simple as that for me. Why? Because I already had my own outlet for expression and I didn’t want an audience. Most people act like verbal communication is the only important form of expression out there when it is not. There is a time and place for everything.

Maybe you can relate, but I find it comforting and so much easier to write from my heart than verbalizing everything that comes to my head. (Which, by the way, has always been a struggle because my brain seems to always move faster than my mouth). It always seem to make more sense when thoughts, feelings, or ideas are seen on paper. Therefore, it was no surprise that I was always reading books and writing in my diary about every good or bad thing that affected or left an impression on me. It played a major roll in understanding myself and helped me develop the thick skin needed in this sometimes harsh world; not to mention the ability to accept and love myself regardless of my shortcomings.

It’s a good thing when you learn to love yourself early on. And if you understand exactly who you are and know who you want to be, then you’re way ahead of the who-am-I life path. (Trust me when I tell youit’s hard for anyone to attack your character and affect your esteem when you’ve learned to love who you truly are). You will never be caught off guard by some insensitive jerk face who happens to take pleasure in using your flaws against you. I’m digressing again…

The beauty behind expressions is that there are more than one way of styling oneself. It’s human nature to want to find a form of expression that relates to you; where you feel more like your stylistic self. No one should tell you what or how you should express yourself. If art is your thing then paint, draw or sculpt your heart out! If you music is your thing, then compose, sing or play your heart out! If literacy is your thing, then write and read your freaking heart out!

Not sure if it’s lucid to anyone else, but the point I’m attempting to make is that there’s so many other significant forms of expression to include on this platform – besides style and fashion. Don’t get it twisted, the feeling I get from being able to write about all things relating to fashion and style is a personal dream come true. But it isn’t enough and it isn’t everything.

If Food 4 Thought Series benefits no one else, at least this part of my blog will keep challenging and motivating me to express more (i.e. write, think, speak, share, create, etc.) about life, love, relationships, and everything else in between. If my expressive thoughts inspires only one person, then I would have succeeded in my purpose. That’s the place I’m striving to be in now; where I’m expressing more of what matters to me and where inspiration and self-expression is recognized, felt and received by my readers.

I have to be honest, this will be one of biggest challenge I’m choosing to embark on in 2012. I have always been cautious about sharing personal thoughts and experiences with people I’ve never met, but I think, I’m now ready to man up. Ha! I don’t even know where this idea came from, call it courage, change, growth, or maybe (now thinking about it) it’s the comfort-ability I’m feeling now more than ever. Whatever. I won’t question it, I just accept it.

P.S. This is totally random, but for sheer entertainment, I decided to replaced one little word so that  it can fit a  new life mantra I’m trying on:

I don’t write stories…I write LIFE.

How do you like that? I might not write stories or novels (well, at least not yet), but I’ll always express from my heartI can guarantee that much :)  Feel free to let me know what’s on your mind too, I love connecting with intelligent, expressive individuals!

Sincerely,

SHOE-GASM: The FLAT- LIFTS

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done a real shoegasm post but I wanted to take a break from my usual high heel obsessions. And since this is the first shoegasm post on my new blog site, I figured, why not switch up a bit? Let me begin by reiterating if you don’t already know…I love shoes. So if you have a love affair with them like I do, then you will surely appreciate my future Shoegasm posts.

Lately I’ve been into flat shoes with the little 2 inch heel (anything bigger than that, just isn’t happening for me).  Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find many flat-lifts with a little…oomph. However, there were 3 top flat-lifts that caught my eye below, but unfortunately 2 out of 3 are sold out! *sad face* I still wanted to do a shoegasm post on them because, well, I had already put outfits together in a collage for fun.

I view flats shoes as the ying to my high heel yang (if that makes sense). For me, there’s just something about flat-lifts that exudes subtle sophistication without the effort OR the pain that can sometimes come from wearing high heels. Each flat shoe brings something unique and versatile to any ensemble – whether you’re going for an androgynous, preppy, edgy,or even a classic look.

Flat-Lift Outfits

If you are one of those girls who prefer not to be close to the ground, then flat-lifts are great alternatives to the ballerina flats. Currently, for me, I rather be flat than elevated….at least for now.  ;-)

The First Lady of Street-Style: Rebecca Minkoff S/S 2012 RTW

A very pregnant but always beautiful, Rebecca Minkoff

I don’t know Rebecca Minkoff personally, but there’s so many things I can say about her professionally because I adore who/what she represents. She’s known as being the “fashion industry’s top bag lady” but I like to think of her as the new first lady of street-style (move over, Donna Karan!).

After unveiling her F/W 2011 RTW collection, I thought, this HAS to be her best collection (to date); but wondered, could she really keep up the momentum for her next collection? Well, as they say in politics, “yes, she can“…. step up to the plate and hush potential doubters on whether or not she still got it in the bag (no pun intended).

I started paying attention to Rebecca Minkoff sometime around 2006, she had already been receiving recognition for her, (now) iconic Morning After bag ; which she continues to recreate every season. This woman started creating apparel, switched to trying her hand in handbags (succeeded), then went back to her first love – designing and sewing clothes again. Fast forward to 2011, Ms. Minkoff has managed to remain a major player in street style fashion!

Leandra Medine of manrepeller.com debuts on the Rebecca Minkoff S/S '12 RTW runway

Her innate ability to instinctively know what “real” women on the streets favors, is the kind of thing I find quite commendable. One might say, she’s got what’s been missing in the fashion world…real street-style cred. Fortunately for her, it’s also what keeps her constantly ahead of the fashion trends and continues to makes her a consistent trendsetter. What I happen to love most about her is her ability to see a value in fashion bloggers. That’s why I wasn’t surprised when one of the well-known bloggers (above) debut down her runway.

Favorite Dresses from RM S/S 2012 rtw collection

Favorite Pants/Shorts combo from RM S/S 2012 rtw collection

Minkoff’s S/S 2012 collection didn’t disappoint either. There were a few pieces that stood out to me, particularly the 3 edgy pants/shorts combo above. Naturally, I’m drawn to vivid colors and delicate prints; and these ensembles gave me just the right amount for Spring . Her dresses, on the other hand, seemed as though she was going for a light, subtle approach in colors and prints; which had made me wishing it was summertime already! There were array of dress styles to choose from that happen to give the collection enough visual balance. (The long, flowy floral dress with the cut-out sides was one of my absolute favorites!)

But actually seeing her entire collection in person with a couple blogger buddies made my Fashion Week complete. (And you can bet your butt, I tweeted that moment too!)

Pamella Roland S/S 2012 Collection

Before this Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I had never heard of the designer, Pamella Roland. Conveniently for me, before I went in to see her collection, I was handed an info booklet detailing her Spring/Summer 2012 dresses; her inspirations behind them and the rest of her credentials.

The models (below) happened to be were emulating the posing figures in the (above) ceiling portraits  to a T. I must say, it was, in a good way, a pretty simple but well-executed theme.

The cocktail dresses and formal gowns had me swooning for more, but I contained myself, as I walked around noting the intricate details of these artistic pieces.  And the models? They were giving the rest of the observers & photographers, fierce poses, fierce faces… just FIERCE EVERYTHING!

And of course, I couldn’t ignore the Cleopatra-inspired make-up that stood out against the models’ neutral tone lips and pastel color palette of cocktails & gowns.

But wait, there was bold cocktail dresses coming out of  the PR 2012 collection! This one happens to be one of my favorites.

I absolutely adore this gown mainly because I can envision it at a wedding ceremony. Don’t you think? :)

This is what keeps me intrigued about the fashion world, I get to see the vision behind a designer’s craft, right before my very eyes! Do you want to know the best part out of this whole experience? I felt like I was actually part of the creative energy at MBFW! I’m already anticipating next year’s fashion week, but until next time…

MBFW Series: Style’Fits Fall Trends

Prints image (far right): Blogger Monroe Steele of fashionsteelenyc.com

I may be late on my MBFW posts, but you can’t deny how right on I am on the current trends. I can not express enough how excited I am about fall and the fashion it brings! Even though, currently every designer is showcasing their S/S 2012 collection, my focus happens to be in the fall fashion; which means it’s time to showcase what your style is made out of. I find that most stylish girls use this opportunity to style exercise during the fall and winter months.

I had the pleasure of attending fashion week last week and I was just as elated about the street styles as I was about the fashion runways. If you’re like me, you might dress according to your moods – which changes everyday. I will always favor personal style over fashion because it’s the basis of where fashion is derived from but more importantly where individuality is expressed. Now don’t get it twisted, I LOVE fashion just as much as you fashionistas; it’s part of our inspiration equation and one of the best artistic avenues to tell a story. And who doesn’t love a great story?

TRENDspotting: The Stylish Book Clutch

Image via Asos.com

If you’re an avid book reader, like myself, then you would surely appreciate an accessory as functional and chic as this. It is something, I feel, every trendy yet  closeted bookworm should own….better yet, carry in their hands. Who cares if you’re the only girl in your class who actually enjoys reading books! After your peers see you with this book clutch, they will have to start calling you the “stylish nerd”.

P.S. How dope would it be if there was a clutch just for magazines?!

MBFW Series: QVC Fashion’s Night Out Events

This year’s Fashion’s Night Out was nothing short of what I could’ve imagined, but all that I hoped it would be. I was invited to QVC’s FNO and their fashion show on Saturday. And let me tell you it was all so gla-mo-rous! There was a lot of press/media  (including bloggers like myself) on the ‘red carpet’ area, waiting to interview and taking pictures of celebrities. QVC really pulled out all the stops at their event by having fans take pictures with Heidi Klum, having models showcase the designers’ clothing & jewelry, and airing a live broadcast with Kim & Kourtney Kardashian talking about their new clothing line, K-DASH.

My highlight of the night was seeing Anna Wintour for a brief moment (unfortunately no pics), but hanging out with my niece and blogger bud, Vanessa made the night most enjoyable despite the overcrowded masses. It was definitely the best FNO experience I’ve ever had!  (To view more photos, click here )
